The program is standards-based and is designed to provide writing practice, vocabulary development and the ability to closely and attentively read texts.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Literature: Learn about proper citations of textual evidence, draw inferences, analyze the development of themes, and analyze vague descriptions in a text.

Unit 2 - Informational Text: Use strong evidence to support inferences from a text, and learn to analyze the development of central ideas, a sequence of events, and effective rhetorics used by an author.

Unit 3 - Writing: Learn to formulate individual well-supported claims and arguments, use concise language, develop counterclaims, varying syntax, and apply proper grammar conventions.

Unit 4 - Speaking and Listening: Participate in discussions regarding high school topics, respond to and present opposing claims, and use various forms of representing information.
