Algebra 2

Prepaze Academy’s Algebra 2 curriculum builds upon your student’s algebraic and geometric skills and knowledge. It covers more difficult functions, advanced polynomials, quadratics, complex numbers, and a detailed study of trigonometry. This course will focus on teaching students new skills that will set them up for their precalculus course next year.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Expand knowledge on graph transformations, get introduced to parent functions, and use transformations with linear functions.

Unit 2 - Graph quadratic equations with transformations, learn about the properties of quadratics in standard form, solve quadratics graphically and with factoring, and work with complex numbers when solving quadratic equations and inequalities with completing the square and the quadratic formula.

Unit 3 - Develop fluency with operations using polynomials, learn about methods for dividing polynomials, factor polynomials, find the roots of a polynomial equation, get introduced to the fundamental theorem of algebra, and explore the graphs of polynomials.

Unit 4 - Learn about exponential growth and decay, exponential functions, the properties of logarithmic functions, exponential and logarithmic inequalities, the natural log, as well as the graphs of exponential and logarithmic functions

Unit 5 - Get introduced to variation functions, operations with rational expressions, rational functions, as well as radical functions and inequalities.

Unit 6 - Work with various representations of functions, compare functions, learn about piecewise functions, use all operations with functions, and develop fluency with inverse functions.

Unit 7 - Learn about the fundamental counting principle, permutations, and combinations, independent and dependent events, as well as compound events and two-way tables.

Unit 8 - Get introduced to measures of variation, the significance of experimental results, and various forms of distributions.

Unit 9 - Develop an understanding of sequences and series, evaluate arithmetic and geometric sequences and series, and learn about infinite geometric series.

Unit 10 - Learn about right angle trigonometry, the unit circle, angles of rotation, inverses of trig functions, and the laws of sine and cosine.

Unit 11 - Learn to graph trig functions, get introduced to fundamental trig identities, and solve trigonometric equations.

Unit 12 - Work with conics including circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas, learn the characteristics of each conic section, and solve nonlinear systems of equations.
