Grade 6 ScienceTutoring: Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Livermore & Online Options

This course covers a wide range of topics, including astronomy, forces, motion, and the Earth’s structure. Students learn more about space and get an introduction to motion in space. They also learn more about the Earth’s overall formation and Newton’s Laws of Motion.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Learn about the earth’s axis and equator, planets, moons, stars, motion in space, and get introduced to lab protocols and safety.

Unit 2 - Learn about rotations and revolutions of Earth, the causes of seasons, solstices and equinoxes, the phases of a moon, and eclipses.

Unit 3 - Learn about the history of space technology, the space race, rockets, as well as ancient views of the solar system.

Unit 4 - Learn about the layers of the Sun, dwarf planets, rocks in space, measurements in space, characteristics of stars, the life cycle of a star, and various types of galaxies.

Unit 5 - Learn about motion and relative motion, the relationship between velocity and speed, net force, and friction.

Unit 6 - Learn about Sir Isaac Newton, Newton’s Laws of Motion, types of work and energy, and the conservation of energy.

Unit 7 - Learn about electrical charges and fields, current, circuits and conductors, and magnetism.

Unit 8 - Learn about the main systems of the Earth, constructive and destructive forces on the Earth’s surface, the layers of the Earth, and the transfer of heat within the planet.

Unit 9 - Learn about the formation of different types of rocks, the rocks cycle, the classification of rocks, and the characteristics of different types of rocks.

Unit 10 - Learn about continental drift, the movement of tectonic plates, mid-ocean ridges, seismic waves, the technology used to measure earthquakes, surface boundaries, the three types of stress, and activity on the Earth’s surface.
