Grade 4 - Science

This course explores the classification of animals and plants. It also looks into the classification of different ecosystems. Students also get an introduction to the human body’s various systems, surface changes on Earth, electricity, and magnetism.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Learn about how the surface of the Earth evolves, what happens to eroded materials, and the impacts of volcanoes and earthquakes on the Earth’s surface.

Unit 2 - Learn about the importance of technology in communication.

Unit 3 - Learn about how the universe was created, the solar system, the Earth’s revolutions and rotations, rockets, the phases of the moon, and Nicolas Copernicus.

Unit 4 - Learn about the details of motion, how force impacts objects in motion, and the uses and purposes of machines.

Unit 5 - Learn about energy in the form of sound and light, how sound travels, how light interacts with different types of matter, and inventor Thomas Edison.

Unit 6 - Learn about the basics of atoms and the magnetic field, how electricity flows, and how electricity can be converted into magnetism.

Unit 7 - Learn about where energy is found in the world, how heat moves around, radiation, and the jobs of chemists.

Unit 8 - Learn about the properties of different types of matter, how matter is measured, and the physical, chemical, and phase changes of matter.

Unit 9 - Learn about the specialties of the Earth’s soil, as well as the job of geologists.

Unit 10 - Learn about cells, how organisms are grouped, and animal adaptations in specific habitats.

Unit 11 - Learn about how the different types of rocks are formed and researcher Alfred Wegener.

Unit 12 - Learn more about hurricanes and tornadoes, how you can predict them, and the jobs of meteorologists.

Unit 13 - Learn about the different forms of water on Earth, clouds, the water cycle, and how the weather is predicted.

Unit 14 - Learn about the major system of a human body, viruses and diseases, the body’s defense system, and the jobs of optometrists.

Unit 15 - Learn about what disturbs the balance of an ecosystem, how to preserve the balance, and the special jobs of biologists.

Unit 16 - Learn about the parts of different ecosystems and the flow of energy and matter within them.

Unit 17 - Learn about the different characteristics of plants, plant reproduction, the plant life cycle, and naturalist Charles Darwin.
