Grade 2 - English

As your student matures, so will the texts that they read. This course will allow students to learn proper phonetics so that they are able to read increasingly complex terms.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Literature: Learn to understand the central message of a text, identify trigger adjectives, and explain differences between two books.

Unit 2 - Informational Text: Answer questions regarding the 5 Ws and 1 H, identify text features to easily find information, and determine the purpose of a text.

Unit 3 - Foundation Reading Skills: Learn to identify common prefixes and suffixes, read irregularly spelled words, and read grade-level prose.

Unit 4 - Writing: Learn to write with linking words, use technology to collect resources, and participate in collaborative research assignments.

Unit 5 - Informational Text: Use key details from a text to describe the main idea, understand phrases appropriate for a grade 4 reading level, and use illustrations to describe viewpoints.
