Grade 8 MathTutoring: Morrisville, Cary, and Apex & Online Options

This course focuses on formulating expressions and equations, understanding and applying functions, analyzing two dimensional and three-dimensional spaces, and learn to apply the Pythagorean theorem.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Get introduced to irrational numbers, distinguish between rational and irrational numbers, and use rational numbers to approximate irrational values.

Unit 2 - Multiply and divide values with exponents, evaluate common square and cube roots, convert between exponent and radical form, and utilize powers of ten when writing numbers in expanded form.

Unit 3 - Understand the concept of scientific notation, perform operations with values represented in scientific notation, and rewrite extremely small and large numbers with scientific notation.

Unit 4 - Learn about linear functions, the proportional relationship between the coordinates of a linear function, understand the concept of slope, solve systems of linear equations, and use right triangles to derive various forms of linear functions.

Unit 5 - Develop an understanding of functions, inputs, and outputs, compare properties of functions algebraically and graphically, construct linear functions, and familiarize with other forms of functions.

Unit 6 - Experiment with various transformations, including rotations, reflections, and shifts.

Unit 7 - Master skills solving for unknown angles, develop a deeper understanding of parallel and perpendicular lines, and continue working with transversals.

Unit 8 - Familiarize and memorize the formulas for the volume of cones, cylinders, prisms, pyramids, and spheres, and learn to apply the Pythagorean theorem in real-world situations.

Unit 9 - Interpret bivariate data sets, represent these data sets on scatter plots, learn about outliers, and assign random, positive and negative associations to data sets.
