Prepaze Academy’s Algebra 1 curriculum will prepare your students for their first high school mathematics class. This course will focus on strengthening the foundation for all future math courses that your child will be taking. Algebra 1 will introduce fundamental topics including functions, inequalities, systems of equations, and other critical math skills.

What you'll learn

Unit 1 - Learn about the application of equations and variables, using all operations with equations, solving multi-step equations, solving for a variable, and operating with absolute values.

Unit 2 - Graph and write inequalities, and solve inequalities using all operations, multi-step inequalities, inequalities with variables, compound inequalities, and absolute value inequalities.

Unit 3 - Graph relations, write and graph functions, utilize scatter plots and trend lines, and solve arithmetic sequences.

Unit 4 - Identify linear functions, use x and y-intercepts, learn about rate of change, use the slope formula, apply direct variation, get introduced to various forms of linear equations, and graphically transform linear functions.

Unit 5 - Solve systems of equations graphically, as well as by using substitution and elimination, and solve systems of linear inequalities.

Unit 6 - Learn about integer and rational exponents, polynomials, operations with polynomials, and special products of binomials.

Unit 7 - Determine factors and GCFs, learn to factor using GCFs, find the factors of quadratic formulas, and solve for the factors of special products.

Unit 8 - Learn to identify quadratic functions, explore the characteristics of quadratic functions, use transformations on the graphs of quadratic functions, solve quadratics using graphs, factoring, square roots, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and develop fluency with writing the quadratic formula in various forms and using discriminants.

Unit 9 - Get introduced to geometric sequences and exponential functions, exponential growth and decay, various function models, and the comparing of functions.

Unit 10 - Learn to organize and display data using histograms and dot plots, and work with experimental and theoretical probability, with a focus on identifying independent and dependent events.
